a well-crafted home

Well loves, it’s here..  two years in the making and well worth the wait.  Janet Crowther’s A Well-Crafted Home is on bookshelves nationwide and available online.  What an incredible privilege it was to photograph this book for her.  Janet was a client who hired me in 2012 to photograph her beautiful wedding (see it featured on Southern Weddings here) and then became a dear friend in the process.  When she reached out to me about this project I happily said yes and drove all over the southeast to create imagery and watch this amazing woman work her magic.

A Well-Crafted Home isn’t just a book you’ll buy, flip through and let collect dust on your bookshelf.  It’s one you’ll want to pour through on a cozy afternoon and pick a project to beautify your home again and again.  From something as simple as a leather loop tea towel to projects as ambitious as a dyed fabric ottoman or a beaded light fixture, every project will help you create something lasting and beautiful in your home for years to come.

Janet, thank you.  I am so grateful to have been on this ride with you and call you one of my dearest.  Let’s do it again.

Equal parts inspiration and DIY guide, A Well-Crafted Home is an irresistible resource for both aspiring makers and seasoned crafters.

Featuring 60 projects for high-quality furniture, textiles, and accessories to enjoy all through the house–plus all the techniques you need for dyeing or sewing fabric, cutting leather, antiquing mirrors, working with wood, and much more. With simple, creative details that will tailor a space to your taste, the book is more than just “DIY” crafts, these carefully designed projects call for good materials–like linen, leather, and wood–so the finished product will last you a lifetime. Ranging from beginner to more advanced, each item elevates a room in a way you’d never expect: a large-scale painting with an effortless “dot” design looks like a modern piece of art, flax linen bedding sewn with a few easy seams is gorgeous way to set off the bed (and is more affordable than you would think), and a copper pipe rack for hanging clothes is so pretty, you’ll want to keep it on display.
