Caitlin and Ben will forever have a special place at JWP, as will this Lonesome Valley wedding. This day was rainy. Oh so rainy. Like 7 inches of hurricane rain in one day kind of rainy. And the reason why Caitlin and Ben will forever have a special place is because they owned their rainy wedding day with so much heart and kindness. It was an incredible day that taught me that you don’t need sunshine to create magic.. cascading waterfalls, an umbrella and a brave couple will do just fine. I spent so much time scouting the night before their wedding to find the perfect spots for portraits, and a few texts the night before the wedding, we had a game plan to head out in the downpour and make some photographs. I’ll have those memories with me for a long time. Experiences like shooting in a hurricane in the largest box canyon on the east coast just never leave you.
Also, know that if we run into a rainy wedding day on your day, I’ll be there for you 100%. We will take beautiful imagery together, because it will be a day you will forever remember. We’ll collaborate, find the most beautiful locations possible and embrace the day with what it gives us. That is what will make it memorable and so fun.
Thank you Ben and Caitlin for continuing to stay in touch, for your generosity in sharing your wedding with us, and for an incredible party. Adore you two so much.
Also, a very special thanks to Jessica of JJ Horton Photography for second shooting this day. Grateful for you, friend.
